Kismayo, Somalia — Jubba Water Supply Co. (JWS) has officially reached a historic milestone in urban utility engineering, expanding its clean water pipeline network past the 500-kilometer mark.
Before our intervention in 2017, residents in many parts of Kismayo faced severe water scarcity, dealing with unregulated truck vendors and prices soaring as high as an unsustainable $6.5 per cubic meter. Today, our engineering teams continue to actively clear historical barriers to utility access. Overcoming challenging coastal terrains, loose soil conditions, and urban expansion realities, JWS has systematically brought affordable, metered water infrastructure directly to 15,157+ households across 28 distinct municipal zones.
By strategically deploying 27 high-point air valves and 22 kilometers of heavy-duty main transmission pipelines, the network maintains stable pressure across long distances. This structural grid ensures that safe water reaches every connected neighborhood, shifting Kismayo from a city of chronic scarcity to a model of reliable urban utility delivery.
